Habitat and Description: Rare on ranch but locally common in shortgrass patches within little bluestem-brownseed paspalum coastal prairie grassland on sandy loam or loamy sand in an undulating landscape underlain by Goliad Formation. Associates include Cenchrus spinifex, Croton argyranthemus, C. capitatus, Elyonurus tripsacoides, Eragrostis secundiflora, Helenium amarum, Paspalum plicatulum, Schizachyrium scoparium, Sida ciliaris, Aristida geniculata, Hypericum drummondii, Chamaecrista spp., Lechea sp., Zanthisma texanum, Diodia teres, Gaillardia aestivalis, Croptilon hookerianum, and Agalinis strictifolia.
