Habitat and Description: Intricately-branched thornless shrub to 1 m tall and about as wide; locally common, the lone significant shrub in sandhill herbaceous vegetation on loose light-colored sand (of Deweyville origin?) on hummocky slope between Lissie Formation upland and San Antonio River floodplain. Associates include Acalypha radians, Brazoria truncata, Chenopodium ambrosioides, Cnidoscolus texanus, Coreopsis basalis, Dalea emarginata, Descurainia pinnata, Eupatorium compositifolium, Gaillardia aestivalis, heterotheca subaxillaris, Houstonia subviscosa, Juncus marginatus, Linaria texana, Lupinus subcarnosus, Monarda punctata, Phlox drummondii, Plantago hookeriana, Rudbeckia hirta, Rumex hastatulus, Stillingia sylvatica, Tradescantia sp., Urtica chamaedryoides.
