Habitat and Description: Common, visual co-dominant (with Coreopsis nuecensoides) in herbaceous "sandhill" vegetation on sandy hummocks on open clayey to sandy floodplain of intermittent stream draining landscape of post oak woodlands and coastal prairies underlain by Goliad Formation. Associates include Croton argyranthemus, Lupinus subcarnosus, Paspalum monostachyum, Polygala verticillata, Rumex hastatulus, Sabatia campestris.
