Habitat and Description: Rare under live oaks along margin of opening on neutral to mildly alkaline fine sand (Galveston Series, Typic Udipsamments) on Pleistocene barrier island. Associates include Callicarpa americana, Erythrina herbacea, Ilex vomitoria, Oplismenus setarius, Persea borbonia, Quercus fusiformis, Smilax bona-nox, Vitis mustangensis, Zanthoxylum hirsutum.
