Habitat and Description: Locally common in opening in mesquite-granjeno-colima shrubland on somewhat reddish brown to light brown Delmita fine sandy loam on level to very gently undulating landscape of South Texas Holocene Sand Sheet. Associates include Acacia greggii, Aloysia gratissima, Celtis pallida, Cocculus diversifolius, Colubrina texensis, Condalia hookeri, Dichanthium annulatum, Hermannia texana, Lantana macropoda, Leucophyllum frutescens, Opuntia lindheimeri, Palafoxia texana, Pennisetum ciliare, Prosopis glandulosa, Tridens muticus, Zanthoxylum fagara.
