Habitat and Description: Locally common in 100-foot-wide hunting sendero cut through mixed stature thornscrub on clayey soils on gently undulating upland underlain by Miocene strata of the Frio Formation. Associates include Aristida purpurea, Colubrina texensis, Croton lindheimerianus, Pappophorum bicolor, Prosopis glandulosa.
