Habitat and Description: Locally frequent in open shrubland on convex hill of fine sand rising about 15 feet above clayey alluvial plain formed by various channels of Nueces River. Associates include Aphanostephus riddellii, Aristida purpurea, Berberis trifoliolata, Carlowrightia texana, Celtis pallida, Croton lindheimerianus, Diospyros texana, Ephedra antisyphilitica, Jatropha dioica, Koeberlinia spinosa, Opuntia leptocaulis, O. lindheimeri, Pectis tenella, Pennisetum ciliare, Prosopis glandulosa, Yucca treculeana, Y. cf. constricta.
