Habitat and Description: Common in openings in live oak-mesquite woodland on hummocky fine sand (Falfurrias Series) of South Texas Holocene Sand Sheet. Associates include Acacia greggii, Acalypha radians, Celtis pallida, Condalia hookeri, Croton glandulosus, Diospyros texana, Galactia canescens, Krameria lanceolata, Lycium berlandieri, Opuntia leptocaulis, O. lindheimeri, Prosopis glandulosa, Quercus sp., Rhynchelytrum repens, Schizachyrium scoparium, Schrankia sp., Tephrosia lindheimeri, Vaseyochloa multinervosa, Zanthoxylum fagara, Ziziphus obtusifolius.
