Habitat and Description: Rare in shrubland on gravelly soils associated with nearby outcrop of calcareous Miocene sandstone or caliche of Frio Formation. Associates include Acacia rigidula, A. schaffneri, Allionia incarnata, Aloysia gratissima, Aristida purpurea, Celtis pallida, Colubrina texensis, Condalia hookeri, Croton dioicus, Diospyros texana, Ephedra antisyphilitica, Eysenhardtia texana, Forestiera angustifolia, Guaiacum angustifolium, Jatropha dioica, Leucophyllum frutescens, Opuntia leptocaulis, Prosopis glandulosa, Rhus microphylla, Ziziphus obtusifolius.
