Habitat and Description: Locally common in tall shrubland on presumably saline clay soils on nearly level upland underlain by either the Jackson Group (Eocene) or Frio Formation (Miocene). Associates include Acacia schaffneri, Celtis pallida, Diospyros texana, Guaiacum angustifolium, Lycium berlandieri, Opuntia leptocaulis, Prosopis glandulosa, Schaefferia cuneifolia, Ziziphus obtusifolius.
