Habitat and Description: Common in shallow, moderately well drained, friable, mildly to moderately alkaline sandy clay loam Petrocalcic Paleustolls (Parrita Series) on nearly level topography underlain by calcareous sandstone or caliche of the Lissie Formation. Associates include Abutilon wrightii, Acacia rigidula, Acalypha radians, Aristida purpurea, Chamaesyce velleriflora, Chloris cf. latisquamea, C. ciliata, Colubrina texensis, Eragrostis secundiflora, Evolvulus alsinoides, Galphimia angustifolia, Hermannia texana, Houstonia nigricans, Indigofera miniata, Menodora heterophylla, Parthenium incanum, Phyllanthus polygonoides, Richardia tricocca, Simsia calva, Thamnosma texana, Tridens muticus.
