Habitat and Description: Common in large opening in mesquite woodland on light-colored somewhat sandy soils on gentle slope underlain by clays of the Beaumont Formation. Associates include Ambrosia psilostachya, Aphanostephus riddellii, Aristida purpurea, Bouteloua rigidiseta, Cenchrus spinifex, Chloris verticillata, Colubrina texensis, Cordia podcephala, Eragrostis secundiflora, Evolvulus sericeus, Indigofera miniata, Justicia pilosella, Monarda punctata, Parthenium sp., Rhynchosia texana, Richardia tricocca, Ruellia sp., Schrankia sp., Sida abutifolia, Simsia calva, Tragia sp., Tridens muticus, Ziziphus obtusifolius.
