Habitat and Description: The dominant species in mesquite woodland on light-colored fine sand on gentle slope underlain by clays of the Beaumont Formation. Associates include Celtis pallida, Clematis drummondii, Condalia hookeri, Cynanchum barbigerum, Eupatorium odoratum, Heliotropium angiospermum, Lantana urticoides, Matelea reticulata, Opuntia lindheimeri, Panicum hallii, Pennisetum ciliare, Ruellia rudiflora, Salvia coccinea, Setaria leucopila, Solanum triquetrum, Zanthoxylum fagara, Ziziphus obtusifolius.
