Habitat and Description: Rare in mesquite-granjeno shrubland on heavy clay soil mapped as moderately deep, well drained, moderately alkaline sandy clay loam (Goliad Series, Petrocalcic Paleustolls) over caliche or calcareous sandstone of the Lissie Formation. Associates include Abutilon incanum, Acacia minuata, Berberis trifoliolata, Bouchetia erecta, Bouteloua rigidiseta, B. curtipendula, Celtis pallida, Colubrina texensis, Condalia hookeri, Cynanchum barbigerum, Cynodon dactylon, Dichanthium annulatum, Diospyros texana, Forestiera angustifolia, Lantana urticoides, Prosopis glandulosa, Ruellia sp., Salvia ballotiflora, Schaefferia cuneifolia, Setaria sp., Simsia calva, Tridens texanus, Verbesina microptera, Wedelia hispida, Xylothamia palmeri, Zanthoxylum fagara.
