Habitat and Description: Locally common, conspicuous in strip of mixed herbaceous and shrubland vegetation on gravelly soils mapped as deep, well drained, friable, moderately alkaline loam (Clareville Series, Pachic Argiustolls) on gently undulating upland underlain by caliche or calcareous sandstone of the Lissie Formation. Associates include Aristida purpurea, Bouteloua trifida, Calliandra conferta, Colubrina texensis, Cordia podocephala, Croton lindheimerianus, Evolvulus alsinoides, Eysenhardtia texana, Galphimia angustifolia, Hermannia texana, Oxalis dichondrifolia, Pennisetum ciliare, Rhynchosia senna var. texana, Sporobolus cryptandrus, Tridens texanus.
