Habitat and Description: Occasional in strip of shrubland on gravelly soils mapped as deep, well drained, friable, moderately alkaline loam (Clareville Series, Pachic Argiustolls) on gently undulating upland underlain by caliche or calcareous sandstone of the Lissie Formation. Associates include Acacia rigidula, Aristida purpurea, Berberis trifoliolata, Bouteloua trifida, Calliandra conferta, Colubrina texensis, Condalia hookeri, Cordia podocephala, Croton lindheimerianus, Evolvulus alsinoides, Eysenhardtia texana, Forestiera angustifolia., Galphimia angustifolia, Hermannia texana, Lantana macropoda, L. urticoides, Pennisetum ciliare, Rhynchosia senna var. texana, Salvia ballotiflora, Sporobolus cryptandrus, Tridens texanus, Zanthoxylum fagara.
