Habitat and Description: Frequent in openings in shrubland at top of slope of clay, gravel and caliche of Beaumont Formation. Associates include Berberis trifoliolata, Castela erecta, Celtis pallida, Colubrina texensis, Condalia hookeri, Croton cortesianus, Ephedra antisyphilitica, Eysenhardtia texana, Guaiacum angustifolium, Isocoma drummondii, Lantana urticoides, Leucophyllum frutescens, Prosopis glandulosa, Xylothamia palmeri, Yucca treculeana, Zanthoxylum fagara.
