Habitat and Description: Common in light colored soil with a shallow surface layer shallow of fine sand, in shortgrass opening in mesquite-colima woodland on gentle slope just below level clayey Beaumont surface . Associates include Aphanostephus skirrhobasis,Aristida sp., Chloris cucullata, Croton glandulosus, Digitaria cognata, Diodia tricocca, Eragrostis curtipedicellata, E. secundiflora,E. sessilispica, Evolvulus alsinoides, E. sericeus, Gaillardia pulchella, Indigofera miniata, Mollugo verticillata, Polypremum procumbens, Tragia sp.
