Habitat and Description: Shrub 5 ft. tall; occasional in medium-stature thornscrub on gravely soil on gently rolling upland with exposures of caliche or calcareous sandstones of Frio Formation. Associates include Acacia berlandieri, A. rigidula, A schaffneri, Aristida sp., Berberis trifoliolata, Diospyros texana, Ephedra antisyphilitica, Forestiera angustifolia Guaiacum angustifolium, Jatropha dioica, Koeberlinia spinosa, Leucophyllum frustescens, Opuntia leptocaulis, Parkinosia texana, Prosopis glandulosa, Schaefferia cuneiolia, Yucca treculeana, Ziziphus obtusifolius.
