Habitat and Description: Locally common in shortgrass grassland community in opening in oak shinnery on extremely shallow stony clay loam and ground level exposures of Edwards (Ft. Terrett) Limestone, on broad bench near top of ridge. Associates include Allium drummondii, Arenaria benthamii, Aristida purpurea, Artemisia ludoviciana, Asclepias asperula, Bouteloua rigidiseta, Buchloe dactyloides, Centaurea melitensis, Erioneuron pilosum, Euphorbia spathulata, Evax verna, Gaillardia pulchella, Glandularia pumila, Hordeum pusillum, Krigia oppositifolia, Paronychia lindheimeri, Salvia azurea, S. texana, Trisetum interruptum.
