Habitat and Description: Locally common in ungrazed grassland on shallow well drained stony clay loam (Brackett Series) on convex upland underlain by Glen Rose Limestone. Associates include Allium drummondii, Aphanostephus riddellii, Aristida purpurea, Bothriochloa ischaemum, Bouteloua pectinata, Castilleja purpurea var. lindheimeri, Erioneuron pilosum, Erodium texanum, Marshallia cespitosa, Melampodium leucanthum, Mimosa borealis, Plantago helleri, Polygala alba, Salvia engelmannii, Schizachyrium scoparium, Stillingia texana, Tetraneuris scaposa, Thelesperma simplicifolium, Warnockia scutellarioides, Wedelia hispida, Yucca rupicola.
