Habitat and Description:
Red beds with red sandy soils, with gypsum outcrops; slopes with juniper, mesquite, Rhus microphylla, Berberis trif., Zizyphus, Celtis retic., and abundant grasses (especially Aristida), with gypsum slopes more open. Perennial from finger-like rootstock ca. 8 cm long, 1.5 cm thick; lvs flat to ground; peduncles very short except where more or less protected by shrubs; fls white or pale lavender.
