Habitat and Description: Occasional in grassland component of open woodland on gravelly soil derived from rhyolite, on nearly level topography in bottom of broad canyon. Surrounding vegetation an open woodland of Quercus emoryi, Q. grisea, Juniperus deppeana, Pinus ponderosa. Herbaceous associates in grassland include Artemisia carruthii, Astragalus mollissimus, Bothriochloa barbinodis, Bouteloua curtipendula, Cirsium ochrocentrum, Commelina dianthifolia, Conyza canadensis, Cyperus sp., Eryngium heterophyllum, Houstonia wrightii, Lobelia fenestralis, Lycurus phleoides, Machaeranthera pinnatifida, Polygala scoparioides.
