Habitat and Description: Locally common in clearing in medium-stature thornscrub on deep, well drained, calcareous, moderately alkaline fine sandy loamf Typic Ustochrepts (Mc Allen Series) on +/- level upland underlain by caliche or calcareous sandstone of the Goliad Formation. Shrubland dominated Acacia rigidula, Leucophyllum frutescens, etc. Herbaceous associates include Bouteloua trifida, Cenchrus spinifex, Chloris cucullata, Digitaria californica, Dyschoriste linearis, Evolvulus alsinoides, Heliotropium angiospermum, Lantana macropoda, Melampodium cinereum, Melochia tomentosa, Panicum hallii, Pappophorum bicolor, Parthenium confertum, Senna durangensis, Setaria leucopila, Sporobolus crytandrus, Tridens muticus and T. texanus.
