Habitat and Description: Common in post oak woodland on gravelly sandy loam on narrow valley flat between slopes of Town Mountain Granite. Woodland composed mostly of Carya texana, Juniperus ashei, Quercus stellata, Ulmus crassifolia. Herbaceous associates include Chloris cucullata, Lespedeza stuevei, Schizachyrium scoparium, Scutellaria ovata.
