Habitat and Description: Mostly on and around old burn piles in bulldozed portion of grassland portion of open live oak - mesquite - juniper woodland on deep sandy clayey soils, on gently rolling landscape underlain by Pennsylvanian clay. Associates include Ambrosia psilostachya, Bromus japonicus, Chloris verticillata, Cirsium texanum, Cyperus filiculmis, Eragrostis secundiflora, Grindelia sp., Juniperus ashei, Matelea biflora, Monarda citriodora, Nassella leucotricha, Panicum obtusum, Prosopis glandulosa, Sarcostemma crispum, Schedonnardus paniculatus, Solanum elaeagnifolium, Sporobolus cryptandrus, Teucrium laciniatum, Ulmus crassifolia.
