Habitat and Description: Stems ascending, not prostrate; occasional in openings in sandsage - Havard oak - dropseed vegetation on and around low dunes on otherwise essentially level part of Holocene sand sheet. Associates include Andropogon hallii, Artemisia filifolia, Chamaesyce geyeri, C. missurica, Cyperus schweinitzii, Dalea villosa, Dithyrea wislizenii, Eragrostis secundiflora, Eriogonum annuum, Helianthus petiolaris, Heterotheca subaxillaris, Ipomopsis longiflora, Oenothera rhombipetala, Palafoxia sphacelata, Paspalum setaceum, Polanisia jamesii, Quercus havardii, Reverchonia arenaria, Senecio sp., Sporobolus giganteus, Triplasis purpurea.
