Habitat and Description: Frequent in open shrubland on shallow sandy soil on top of caliche outcrop derived from Frio Formation, on a high point of gently undulating landscape. Associates include Acacia rigidula, Aristida purpurea, Colubrina texensis, Croton dioicus, Isocoma drummondii, Leucophyllum frutescens, Palafoxia texana, Sporobolus cryptandrus.
