Habitat and Description: Locally common in openings in post oak woodland on light-colored fine sand +/- level upland underlain by sandstone and clay of Manning Formation. Associates include Baptisia bracteata, Bothriochloa ischaemum, B. laguroides, Croton capitatus, Ilex vomitoria, Juniperus virginiana, Opuntia sp., Polypremum procumbens, Prosopis glandulosa, Quercus stellata, Rudbeckia hirta, Schizachyrium scoparium, Xanthium texanum.
