Habitat and Description: Common in partial shade of Texas ebony and various shrubs in medium- to tall-stature shrubland on soils mapped as deep, well drained, moderately alkaline fine sandy loam Argiustolls (Willacy Series) on level upland underlain by eolian materials. Associates include Aloysia gratissima, Ayenia limitaris, Bernardia myricifolia, Bouteloua aristidoides, Celtis pallida, Condalia hookeri, Cordia boissieri, Eragrostis ciliare, Karwinskia humboldtiana, Lantana urticoides, Phaulothamnus spinescens, Pithecellobium ebano, Prosopis glandulosa, Salvia ballotiflora, Serjania brachycarpa, Urochloa maxima, Zanthoxylum fagara.
