Habitat and Description: Clump-forming perennial; common in opening in blackbrush-mejorana shrubland on gentle to moderate W-facing slope of Devils River Limestone. Associates include Abutilon wrightii, Acacia berlandieri, A. rigid-ula, Acalypha hederacea, Astrolepis sp., Cheilanthes horridula, Croton monanthogynus, Dasylirion texanum, Diospyros texana, Euphorbia cyathophora, E. longicruris, Jatropha dioica, Notholaena standleyi, Opuntia lindheimeri, Phlox roemeriana, Phyllanthus polygonoides, Quercus fusiformis, Salvia ballotiflora, Senna lindheimeriana, S. roemeriana, Triodanis coloradoensis, Warnockia scutellarioides, Yucca treculeana.
