Habitat and Description: Frequent in Isocoma-Varilla shrubland on somewhat saline clay in dry valley between thornscrub-covered gravelly slopes underlain by Yegua Formation. Associates include Aloysia gratissima, Atriplex acanthocarpa, Bouteloua trifida, Isocoma coronopifolia, Jatropha dioica, Lycium berlandieri, Opuntia leptocaulis, O. lindheimeri, Pennisetum ciliare, Prosopis glandulosa, P. reptans, Sporobolus pyramidatus, Suaeda sp., Varilla texana, Ziziphus obtusifolius.
