Habitat and Description: Occasional in grassy opening in mixed woodland on deeper stony clay soils on gentle slope underlain by limestone and clay of the Kiamichi Formation. Associates include Ambrosia psilostachya, Artemisia ludoviciana, Asclepias asperula, A. viridis, Bifora americana, Bothriochloa ischaemum, B. laguroides, Bouteloua rigidiseta, Bromus japonicus, Buchloe dactyloides, Calylophus sp., Centaurea americana, Cirsium texanum, Daucus pusillus, Dracopis amplexicaulis, Erigeron strigosus, Erioneuron pilosum, Evax prolifera, Gaillardia pulchella, Gaura brachycarpa, Glandularia bipinnatifida, Hordeum pusillum, Houstonia nigricans, Lindheimera texana, Lupinus texensis, Matelea biflora, Rudbeckia hirta, Schizachyrium scoparium, Scutellaria drummondii, Solanum dimidiatum, Verbena halei.
