Habitat and Description: Culm prostrate, only upper portion ascending; common in gravel and silt in unshaded bed of intermittent or wet-weather stream draining rolling landscape underlain by Cretaceous limestone and supporting prairie vegetation, just upstream from a stock tank in south-central part of ranch. Associates include Amorpha fruticosa, Coreopsis tinctoria, Dracopis amplexicaulis, Eleocharis montevidensis, Fuirena simplex, Helenium elegans, Iva angustifolia, Juncus interior, Muhlenbergia reverchonii, Phalaris caroliniana, Phyla nodiflora, Tridens albescens, Xanthium strumarium.
