Habitat and Description: Locally frequent in openings in thorn shrubland on friable, moderately alkaline, calcareous sandy clay loam (Colibro Series) on slope with occasional exposures of yellow-brown sandstone of Weches Formation. Woody associates include Acacia greggii, A. rigidula, Aloysia gratissima, Baccharis texana, Berberis trifoliolata, Celtis pallida, C. reticulata, Colubrina texensis, Condalia hookeri, Diospyros texana, Eysenhardtia texana, Forestiera angustifolia, Guaiacum angustifolium, Opuntia lindheimeri, O. leptocaulis, Prosopis glandulosa, Ptelea trifoliata, Schaefferia cuneifolia, Sideroxylon lanuginosum, Wedelia texana, Yucca constricta, Y. treculeana, Ziziphus obtusifolius.
