Habitat and Description: Rare in openings in thorn shrubland on deep, friable, well drained, moderately alkaline, calcareous sandy clay loam (Colibro Series), on moderate slope underlain by Weches Formation and mantled by alluvium. Woody associates include Acacia rigidula, Aloysia gratissima, Berberis trifoliolata, Brickellia texana, Celtis pallida, Colubrina texensis, Condalia hookeri, Diospyros texana, Eysenhardtia texana, Guaiacum angustifolium, Lantana urticoides, Lycium berlandieri, Opuntia lindheimeri, O. leptocaulis, Prosopis glandulosa, Ptelea trifoliata, Sideroxylon lanuginosum, Yucca constricta, Y. treculeana, Ziziphus obtusifolius.
