Habitat and Description: Common in openings in mesquite-granjeno-hackberry woodland on clayey soil on level upland. Woodland includes some elements of Tamaulipan thornscrub, e.g. Colubrina texensis, Condalia hookeri, Aloysia gratissima, Berberis trifoliolata, Diospyros texana, Schaefferia cuneifolia, Ferocactus spp., Celtis pallida and Prosopis glandulosa, Talinum paniculatum, Tridens eragrostoides, Fleischmannia incarnata, along with scores of weedy exotics and generalists.
