Habitat and Description: Rare in sparingly vegetated openings in mesquite woodland on deep, friable, well drained, moderately alkaline, calcareous, sandy clay loam (Colibro Series) on nearly level upland underlain by Weches Formation. Woody associates include Acacia greggii, A. rigidula, Aloysia gratissima, Baccharis texana, Berberis trifoliolata, Celtis pallida, C. reticulata, Colubrina texensis, Condalia hookeri, Diospyros texana, Eysenhardtia texana, Guaiacum angustifolium, Lantana urticoides, Lycium berlandieri, Opuntia leptocaulis, O. lindheimeri, Prosopis glandulosa, Sideroxylon lanuginosum, Wedelia texana, Yucca constricta, Y. treculeana, Ziziphus obtusifolius.
