Habitat and Description: Common and conspicuous in matrix grassland on shallow stony clay loam on nearly level ridgetop within rolling landscape underlain by Cretaceous limestone. Associates include Bromus japonicus, Centaurea americana, Eriogonum longifolium, Eryngium leavenworthii, Gaillardia pulchella, Gutierrezia texana, Helianthus annuus, Linum berlandieri, Pediomelum reverchonii, Prosopis glandulosa, Schizachyrium scoparium.
