Habitat and Description: Stems prostrate, rooting at nodes, forming mat; rare in area, noted only in partially shaded bed of idle logging road through Pinus-Nyssa forest on poorly drained medium acid silty loam Alfisols (Sorter Series) on flat landscape underlain by Lissie Formation. Associates include Cephalanthus occidentalis, Fraxinus sp. (F. caroliniana?), Nyssa sylvatica, Pinus taeda, Quercus laurifolia, nigra, Q. phellos, Sabal minor, Triadica sebifera, Viburnum dentatum.
