Locality: United States, Texas, Jeff Davis, In valley of Madera Creek ca. 0.4-0.5 airmiles SW of preserve's main gate on St. Rt. 118, ca. 2.8-2.9 airmiles N to NNW of Pine Peak. Davis Mountains Preserve. Elev. 5900 - 5930 ft.

Habitat and Description: Rays yellow-orange; rare, mostly around ash piles in recently burned grassland with scattered alligator juniper, on gentle slope underlain by rhyolite. Associates include Aristida ternipes, A. purpurea, Astragalus mollissimus, Berlandiera lyrata, Bothriochloa alta, B. barbinodis, Bouteloua curtipendula, B. gracilis, B. hirsuta, Calliandra humilis, Castilleja mexicana, Cologania angustifolia, Cyperus fendlerianus, Desmanthus sp., Echeandia torreyi, Eryngium heterophyllum, Evolvulus sericeus, Houstonia wrightii, Krameria lanceolata, Lobelia fenestralis, Lotus oroboides, Lycurus setosus, Machaeranthera sp., Muhlenbergia emersleyi, Phlox mesoleuca, Pseudognaphalium viscosum, Rhynchosia texana, Schkuhria sp., Solanum citrullifolium, S. elaeagnifolium, Thelesperma megapotamicum.
