Habitat and Description: In grassland with scattered shrubs and small trees, on short but fairly steep N-facing slope with exposures of Cretaceous limestone. Associates include Aristida purpurea, Bouteloua curtipendula, B. hirsuta, B. pectinata, Ceanothus herbaceus, Croton monanthogynus, Dalea frutescens, Eriogonum longifolium, Eryngium leavenworthii, Forestiera pubescens, Grindelia sp., Heliotropium tenellum, Houstonia nigricans, Hymenopappus tenuifolius, Liatris aestivalis, Oenothera macrocarpa, Palafoxia callosa, Paronychia virginica, Pediomelum reverchonii, Rhus trilobata, Schizachyrium scoparium, Silphium albiflorum, Vernonia lindheimeri, Yucca pallida. Common.
