Habitat and Description: On unshaded silt and gravel bars in bed of intermittent stream draining rolling prairie landscape underlain by Cretaceous limestone. Associates include Ambrosia psilostachya, Aster subulatus, Euphorbia marginata, Gutierrezia texana, Xanthium strumarium. Culms red, sheaths green; locally common.
