Habitat and Description: Along margins of medium- to tall-stature thorn shrubland on Zapata soils (well drained, calcareous, moderately alkaline but non-saline Aridisols) on high point of gently rolling landscape underlain by Catahoula and Frio formations (undivided). Shrubland probably dominated by Acacia rigidula. Other associates included Acacia berlandieri, Acleisanthes obtusa, Amyris texana, Anredera leptostachya, Bahia absinthifolia, Bouteloua trifida, Castela erecta, Celosia nitida, Chenopodium berlandieri, Dalea pogonathera, Echinocereus enneacanthus, Ephedra antisyphilitica, E. pedunculata, Eysenhardtia texana, Guaiacum angustifolium, Helietta parvifolia, Heliotropium angiospermum, Hibiscus martianus, Koeberlinia spinosa, Lantana macropoda, Matelea sagittifolia, Opuntia lindheimeri, Parkinsonia macra, Parthenium confertum, Pennisetum ciliare, Pithecellobium ebano, Polygala glandulosa, Prosopis glandulosa, Schaefferia cuneifolia, Setaria texana, Tetraclea coulteri, Thymophylla pentachaeta, Tiquilia canescens, Tridens muticus, Wedelia brevifolia. Ocassional.
