Habitat and Description: In openings in medium-stature mesquite-pricklypear shrubland on clay soils of the Maverick-Catarina complex, on gently rolling upland underlain by El Pico Clay. Associates included Atriplex acanthocarpa, Condalia spathulata, Jatropha dioica, Opuntia lindheimeri, Prosopis glandulosa, Varilla texana, Ziziphus obtusifolius. Locally common.
