Habitat and Description: Sparse vegetation on moderately well drained sandy loam in eroded area a few inches below upland coastal prairie dominated by Schizachyrium scoparium and an inch or two above clayey saline flats dominated by Spartina spartinae and mixed halophytes. Associates included Aristida oligantha, A. purpurea, Bouteloua rigidiseta, Chloris cucullata, Eragrostis secundiflora, Helenium amarum, Hypericum drummondii, Liatris bracteata, Linum sp., Palafoxia rosea, Thymophylla tenuiloba, Thurovia triflora. All corolla lobes spreading away from (not arching over) tube; common.
