Habitat and Description: In shrubland on gravelly saline clay (Catarina soils) on +/- level terrain underlain by mudstones and claystones of the Catahoula and Frio formations (undivided). Associates included Acacia rigidula, Atriplex acanthocarpa, Billieturnera helleri, Hilaria belangeri, Pennisetum ciliare, Phaulothamnus spinescens, Prosopis glandulosa, Sporobolus pyramidatus, Ziziphus obtusifolius. Locally common in openings.
