Habitat and Description: In oak - hickory - eastern red cedar forest on soils mapped as well drained, medium acid loamy fine sand Grossarenic Paleudalfs (Pickton Series), on very gently sloping upland underlain by Sparta Sand just above its contact with the Weches Formation. Associates included Callicarpa americana, Carya (texana?), Celtis (reticulata or tenuifolia), Chasmanthium sessiliflorum, Desmodium spp., Dichanthelium spp., Euphorbia corollata, Hypericum hypericoides, Juniperus virginiana, Liquidambar styraciflua, Parthenocissus quinquefolia, Quercus incana, Q. stellata, Smilax bona-nox, S. glauca, S. smallii, Ulmus alata, Vaccinium arboreum, Viburnum rufidulum. Frequent.
