Habitat and Description: In mixed pine - oak forest on slightly to medium acid fine sand or sandy loam in narrow valley between moderately steep slopes underlain by sandstone of Weches Formation. Associates included Acer rubrum, Chasmanthium latifolium, Panicum sp. (29808), Pinus taeda, Pteridium aquilinum, Quercus falcata, Ulmus alata. Abundant.
