Habitat and Description: Emergent from medium-stature blackbrush shrubland on gravelly saline clay (Catarina Series) on upper slope of ridge underlain by Catahoula and Frio formations undivided. Associated included Acacia berlandieri, A. rigidula, Chloroleucon ebano, Citharexylum brachyanthum, Croton humilis, Eysenhardtia texana, Gutierrezia sarothrae, Helietta parvifolia, Jatropha dioica, Karwinskia humboldtiana, Lippia graveolens, Opuntia engelmannii var. lindheimeri, Parthenium incanum, Varilla texana, Yeatesia platystegia, Wedelia hispida, Zexmenia brevifolia, Phaulothamnus spinescens, Astrophytum asterias, Lophophora williamsii, Thelocactus bicolor, Echinocereus reichenbachii var. fitchii, Acleisanthes obtusa, Acourtia runcinata, Polygala glandulosa, Rivina humilis, Sporobolus wrightii. Medium shrub; rare.
